Nanowrimo is here! This year, I’ve tried to be more prepared (as in start actually writing on November 1). Throughout October, I was able to do a little planning – granted, not as much as I wanted since we had a four-week old baby in the house. I know what I am planning and plotting to write about but more information outside of that has not been planned. I guess this makes me more of a “pantser” than a “plotter,” but it’s alright. That’s how I tend to write. I do much better with an overall idea of how I want things to be verses completely plotted out. I need to work on that….
In our writer’s group, one mentioned a post from someone she follows – and I will be keeping this in mind throughout November:
“If you write words every day in November, then you’ve won Nano. The important thing is that you wrote every day – not the number of words you got on a page.”
Basically, just enjoy the journey and do what you can while writing everyday.
I recently went to an Edward Lorn seminar on editing and publishing and he too stated, “Write daily.” That is his routine is to write something every day – whether it is a blog, a scene, a chapter, or just a sentence.
So write on Wrimos! Your story matters.
So until December (when I can hopefully begin editing before sending to beta readers), I write. Because, like Doris Lessing said, “You only learn to be a better writer by actually writing.”
Forward, write!
